END LOG

Whiteman USAAF  Base, Missouri USA

[I am sitting with Colonel Robert Jones B-2 Spirit pilot at the 509th Bomber commander.]

"Fourth day of the war and hundreds of missiles have already been launched into Taiwan. Why didn't we send in the B-2 Spirits or the Widow Makers, your crews like to call them, sooner?"

I don't have an answer for you. A number of reasons I can think of but the only ones with the real answers is our  for the leaders all the way up to the President. Why then, then aren't talking about why then, but I'm allowed to talk about when, which was actually on the third day of the war, the USA was already in it for 50 hours when we launched from here. We arrived at the target 18 hours later at 01:01 on May 4th. We completed our mission."

Were you aware that the target was Main Land China. The PRC was banking on the fact that we didn't know if these were nuclear assets or not to deter us from hitting them. Were you aware of the possibility of reprisals from the Red Chinese? The possibility that this strike could lead to what what happened in space or worse could have lead to a nuclear war?

We didn't know our target until we were air borne. As for escalations, that was always a possibility, but you have to trust your chain of command.

You've been flying these bombers on missions for almost 30 years now, and never with a single loss of a plane. Were you expecting the losses we suffered? Out of your 19 planes; 2 were Destroyed over the target, 3 had to ditch their planes in the Pacific on the return flight, and 2 had to land on Guam due to damage received.

B-2 spirit is a great plane, but like you said, said is now a 30 year old plane. Our adversaries were going to catch up with us sooner or later. No other country in the world has anything like it yet. The Red Chinese might of in 10 years if they hadn't pissed it all all way for their shot at Taiwan. Now I'm not sure anyone else ever will. Technology is changing. We are already working on a replacement that will be automated. As for our losses, yes, it end our 30 winning streak. The missiles had to be neutralized. We did our job, as I said, mission accomplished, even with the losses incurred it was necessary.
