In the actually RL battle the sides balance of forces was 46 British Capital ships to 27 German, so this battle was much more balanced than the real one.

OBJECTIVES: This is IT, Germany’s chance to gain control of the North Sea and break the dead lock of the land war on the Western Front.

OUTCOME:

Battle during the daylight hours went very much like it did in real life, although the Germans took few hits. (Which makes sense since the British had fewer dreadnoughts in this battle than the real one.)

The night hours were decisive. Instead of trying to escape in the darkness and fighting a series of confused sporadic engagements as happened in RL, the Germans realizing their closer ship to ship number ratio, took advantage of their superior night training and closed the range. The effect was devastating. Although the Germans lost more ships than in RL, the British Royal Navy lost far more. By 4am the scattered British ships were fleeing back to Scapa Flow, leaving the damaged BUT intact German High Seas Fleet in control of the North Sea.
