The team has been at the Miskatonic University recovering and studying after they were evacuated out of the British Isles in August.

The team is told they will be fully briefed on the mission once in Iceland. The team is then loaded onto a Canadian Destroyer and arrives very early in the Morning 2 days later. The team gets a few hours of sleep in a hotel just outside Reykjavik Iceland.

Their orders are to meet with Free British Intelligence at noon the next day.

Scene two

October 31st: The team wakes to the News of a naval battle between German Capital ships and Free British Common Wealth cruisers in the Denmark Strait (The Sea between Greenland and Iceland). The Hotel, which happens to be full of British refuges is in a state of chaos. “Could the Germans be coming here next?” is over heard from many a guest.

The meeting with British Intelligence is moved up to ASAP and the team is taken by British Army staff cars down town to the Crown Royal Hotel which is severing as the FBF (Free British Forces) HQ in Iceland.

The teams meets in the royal penthouse suite with the British garrison Commander Colonel Robert Sturges (Commander of the 2nd Royal Marine Battalion of 746men) and the head of the FBF Intelligence detachment in Iceland; Major Humphrey Quill.

The Mission Breifing:

Major Humphrey Quill : “Section N has provided proof that the Nazi’s Ahnenerbe (pseudo-scientific occult research branch) played a major role in the Allied disaster at Dunkirk and the German success at Sea lion. Members of Section N and Q believe they may have found a counter to the Ahnenerbe here on Iceland. Your team’s mission is to fly out to the research station at Eyjallajokull and assist them in any way you can.”

Colonel Robert Sturges: “Whatever this research is it CAN NOT fall into enemy hands. You have limited time. I’m sure you heard about the nearby naval battle with the Germans this morning. I have just received an ultimatum from London and the BUF (British Union of Fascists), we have 24 hours to join the BUF or else.”

ACT TWO: The Icelandic Ruins of Eyjallajokull

Scene One : Eyjallajokull

The meeting with British Intelligence over, the team is taken back to the airport where a de Havilland Dragon Transport Float plane has been readied to take them to Eyjallajokull in southern Iceland. The drive from Eyjafjallaokull is about 10 hours, but the plane will get the team to the small airfield in under 2 hours.

When they arrive at Eyjafjallaokull there are three other transport planes are there, along with a driver wearing a British Corporal’s winter field kit and gas mask. He is the only person on the airfield and stands patiently by a Landover.

He doesn’t speak, but is carrying a STEN SMG and will open the Rover’s doors for the team as the approach. Once the team is seated in the back of the Rover, the mysterious driver gets in the driver seat, takes out the keys and starts driving to the mountains on the edge of the valley. The drive takes several hours and they arrive just after dark.

Scene Two The Ruins

The driver of the mysterious Land Rover parks the vehicle among six others on a dry lava flow near a large empty lava tube with a pillared arch built around it. The driver ushers the team to the lava tube then turns and returns to the vehicles.

As the team walks a few dozen meters in, the cavern transforms into a hewn tunnel with pillars.

The tunnel leads into a Hugh cavern. The cavern is very hot and lit up with a red glow of the lava pool in the center.  The raise platforms carved out the basalt and look worn with age and use.

Set up in the North West cavern near one of the large natural vents is a set of tents were the scientific team awaits. The team is meet by:

N and 6 guards

Q and 6 scientists

Scene Three : The Ceremony

N’s Guards point their Sten SMGs at Q and the scientists as the team arrives and N orders the team and the scientists to stand by the Lava pool. Two guards haul Q away yelling and screaming while begins a ceremony in an ancient tongue. A star shaped platform surfaces in the lava and a metal grate extends out to it from the lava pools edge. A floating burning ball of gas coalesces into a roughly humanoid shape and beckons the “Volunteers” onto the star shaped platform.

The platform and the lava level recedes down the tube about 100 feet into a cavern/cathedral

Six Lava Golems approach the Team and Q scientists.

The one in the lead introduces himself in perfect English as the  “Major Domo of Lord G. Please pick five volunteers to be blessed by Lord G’s mistress T”. A scuffle breaks out as two of the team

volunteer: Aspen Trathwhite and Scout Green

Dr Jong attempts to volunteer as well But Commander Douglas Mac Taggart wrestles him the floor. The Lava golems grab 3 of the scientists and drag them to stand by the other 2 volunteers at the altar on the other side of the room. A “Burning Eye” appears.

A woman’s voice booms through the cavern/cathedral “these 5 will become my talons. G you may start the ceremony.” The burning eye puts up a wall of flame between the 5 “Volunteers” and the rest of the group. The shadowy shape of the round “Eye” morphed into the vague shape of a medusa. The “Volunteers” scream briefly and then were silenced.

Scene Four: The aftermath

The wall of flame and the shadowy Lord G disappear. The voice of his mistress T is silent as well. The Lava golems stand at the altar with the 5 volunteers that are now encased in what looks like white plaster or alabaster. They are all standing like statues in various poses trying to put their hands up in possibly surrender. The lava golems move the statues to the star platform then return to their places at the altar. The survivors jump onto the platform as the cavern/cathedral fills with magma.

ACT THREE: The Black Sun on Iceland November 1st to 5th

Germans invade Iceland with a Light Infantry Division off loaded from the German Ocean Liner Europa and a Company of Black Sun Anweird.

Scene one Escaping the Fires of Ikcarus

The team finds Q waiting for them back in the top cavern. “That despicable N left with his goons. I will report them as soon as we are safe. The Germans have started pre-dawn landing in Reykjavik. The team and Q with his surviving scientists haul the petrified team members into a truck and await for sunrise so it’s safe to drive the treacherous road back to the Eyjallajokull airfield.

Scene two: The Flight out

The team makes it to the airfield. Their a de Havilland Dragon Transport Float plane is gone but a larger  Supermarine Walrus is now present along with the airfield’s sole occupant; a Free British Royal navy Pilot. He tells the team that he was ordered to pick them and their “Statues” up and fly them to the HMS Berwick which is about 100 miles off shore to the south.

Scene three:  HMS Berwick to Lisbon Portugal

The team is deposited on the docks of Lisbon by the HMS Berwick. The British then have them transported to the Free British embassy in Lisbon Portugal for De- Briefing. The Portuguese have a “Switzerland” like agreement with Franco and are for the moment “safe” from the Axis forces in Europe.
