The third day of the war, the moring after the attack on the President at her suites in the Taipei Hilton, what was on your mind?]
"The Emperor's Eagles, the JASDF squadron had just flown in from Okinawa.
We refueled and were back in the air within an hour."
[The F15 is a plane dating back to the 1970s, by the 2020s its showing its age.]

"True, but still better odds than what we started with at 1,200 PLAAF Planes vs our 400 ROCAF, JASDF and USMC. Please don't forget the PLAAF was about to shift some of the modern planes south and west to deal with the Vietnamese and the Indian Air Force that had recently entered war. The PLA had their chance to take Taiwan in the first few days of the conflict, they had 3 days, maybe 5 at most, then their window shut on them. Without air superiority their invasion was doomed. Xi should have seen the tide turning on the 3rd day, but instead of cutting his losses he went all in.

"The moment he lost the invasion of Taiwan, the Communist Party lost control of most of China. It took a few weeks because of the Communist Party's control of the media, but after that there was no saving him or the Party. A cease fire on May 3rd instead of the end of the month would have saved hundreds of thousands of lives, but it would not have saved Red China.
