The War of 1821

War of 1821, Rules & Objectives

1.   Control all the ports in Florida.

2.   Control all your starting ports.

3.   Wipe out the Pirates OR if you are the Pirates Keep at least ONE Pirate ship afloat and Control ONE port.

4.   Control Alliance Specific Objective Ports

Note: IF you lose all your ships OR lose all your controlled ports your out of the Game! Most battles will be in or around ports.

A few will be in the open seas. Port battles will be “fishbowl” battles. Open sea battles will be “open maps”.

PORTS: There are 50 Ports in the game. Each Alliance starts with 7: 5 home ports and 2 already in Florida. There are 25 ports in Florida. Ports are either “Deep Water” (Deeper than 18 feet deep) or “Shallow Water” ports (Only ships with 18 feet draft or less). Why 18 feet as cut off? Because many on the 1774 to 1821 maps I found were in “fathoms”. One fathom equals 6 feet, so 18 feet or 3 fathoms worked well as a cut off for ship draft depth.

Ocean & Sea areas: There are 3; Atlantic, Gulf and Caribbean.

GAME LENGTH: Each turn is two weeks. The game will last 7 turns.

Early Victory Conditions: If an Alliance completes 3 of the 4 Game objectives above then the game ends and that Alliance wins.

Victory Conditions: Unless there is an early victory, then the Alliance that controls the most PORTS by the end of Turn 7 Wins

SHIPS: Each turn each alliance assigns their ships to ports. You can only assign ships to “Shallow Water” ports with “drafts” of  18 feet or less.
