The Trafalgar Campaign Rules

Summary: The Trafalgar Campaign is a Naval War Game Campaign set in 1804 to 1805 using Close Action, Frigate, and Wood Ships and Iron Men. Players will start as Captains from any of the seven nations involved and over an 11 turn campaign to determine if Napoleon seizes control of the English Channel and invades Great Britain. Campaign structure will be based on the Privateers & Gentlemen Age of Sail role playing game.

Objectives: Strategic Victory: Control of the English Channel.
Tactical Victory: The most victory points (Vpts) owned at the end of the campaign
Economic Victory: The Nation with the most economic points (Epts)
Monetary Victory: The captain with the most prize money (Pounds Sterling)

Battles: Each turn will have a battle. TWO will be set battles, the other nine will be random encounters generated by the players.
Battles involving 1-3 ships per each player will use Close Action rules set.
Battles involving 4-9 ships per each player will use Wood Ships and Iron Men.
Battles involving 10 and more ships per each player will use Frigate rules set.

The random battles will be generated by the Privateers & Gentlemen Age of Sail role playing game.
The two set battles will be Cape Finisterre and Trafalgar (Or Dover if the French win Finisterre)

The Captains

Players assign 100 pts to 7 attributes. All starting values must be 1 to 20.
As the campaign progresses you can increase your attributes up to 25.
Captains Start with up to 50 Vpts of ships. They must pick from the starting ships list. As this is a historical based campaign. Actual historical ships will be used as much as possible.
All Characters start as Senior Captains. As Captains gain Vpts they will be promoted in Rank.

STR: Roll under your STR value on a D100 at the beginning of the game and you game a +1 on your D6 rolls for boarding actions.
CON: Roll under Three times your CON value on a D100 and you will survive being a causality
INT: Add this to a D100 roll for setup initiative: “Gaining the Weather Gage.”
DEX: Roll under your DEX value on a D100 at the beginning of the game and you game a +3 on your D6 rolls for Gunnery combat
CHA: Roll under your CHA value on a D100 at the beginning of the game and you can -1 to your moral check rolls.
Ship’s Boson: Roll under your Ship’s Boson value on a D100 at the beginning of the game and your ship will increase one step in sailing speed.
Ship’s Doctor: Three times your Ship’s Doctor value will be the percentage of crew casualties that recover after a battle.
